About me

Nacho Ruiz Hens

When I was diagnosed with bipolar, my world was shattered. I was hospitalized twice in a mental hospital for almost two months, in total. I refused medication at one point and was not in control. I was fired from two jobs and had 4 different jobs in 5 years. After 15 years of marriage, my wife and I decided to split up, and to top it all, I had strong unhelpful thought patterns that could have ended my pain. I felt helpless and hopeless.

I avoided all contact with the outside world, spent a whole year lying on the couch and completely isolated myself until I reconnected with my passion and started the journey to my new life and acceptance of my diagnosis.

Now my life is very different. I am making plans, I am motivated, energized, enjoying the present, and looking forward to the future. I want to help others to embrace, accept and thrive in their lives, with a bipolar diagnosis. My journey was long and painful, yours doesn’t need to be.

A certified high performance coach specializes in facilitating the creation and development of personal, professional, or business goals. Together, you will craft and implement a tailored strategy for achieving these objectives, ensuring that you stay on track toward success.

In this partnership, the coach adheres to high ethical standards and promotes a safe, respectful environment. They also encourage coachees to seek psychiatric and therapeutic support when necessary, emphasizing the importance of holistic well-being.

The Coachee understands that coaching is not a substitute of psychiatric or therapeutic treatment and does not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease. 

The Coachee is responsible for creating and implementing his/her own physical, mental and emotional well-being, decisions, choices, actions and results arising out of or resulting from the coaching relationship and his/her coaching calls and interactions with the Coach.

MODULE 1

Back to Reality

  • Understand the factors that led you to the diagnosis/hospitalization.

  • Assess how you feel in your new circumstances.

  • Envision the implications for your life so that you can avoid a relapse.

It’s a struggle to adjust to life after being diagnosed or hospitalized. In this module you will learn to master techniques to reduce anxiety and ground yourself to your new reality.

MODULE 2

Fostering and Sustaining Hope 

  • Learn how hope plays a critical part in how we approach our new reality

  • Discover the possibilities of finding balance in bipolar.

  • Make a plan to avoid relapses and continue in the path of your recovery.

It is common to feel helplessness and hopelessness and experience deep despair shortly after the diagnosis. In this module you will learn to foster and sustain hope. Remember: 'This, too, shall pass'.

MODULE 3

Regain Self-respect and Self-esteem

  • Explore how others see you and how it is likely different to how you see yourself.

  • Identify your strengths to improve your self-esteem.

  • Make a plan to remind yourself of your strengths and personality traits as you navigate your new life.

It is normal to forget who you are after an episode. In this module, you will be reminded of your biggest achievements in life and your best personality traits through the eyes of allies. 

MODULE 4

Thoughts and Mindset

  • Identify your limiting beliefs.

  • Assess whether they are true.

  • Replace them with radically new empowering beliefs.

It is normal to feel that your mind is broken, that you have lost cognitive capabilities, that you will never be the same again. In this module, you will learn to challenge all sorts of limiting beliefs. 

MODULE 5

Blame Game

  • Identify factors that make you feel guilty or ashamed. 

  • Assess how to repair your self-image and image with others. 

  • Replace guilt with self-respect and self-love. 

It is a struggle to feel ashamed for the things we have done while we were manic and by what others may think of us. In this module, you will move past shame and stigma, you will learn that what happened to you is not your fault. 

MODULE 6

Overcoming Intrusive Thoughts

  • Uncover the reasons behind intrusive thoughts.

  • Develop ways to challenge those undesired thoughts. 

  • Master powerful techniques to ignore those thoughts until they eventually disappear.

Bipolar people often have intrusive and overwhelming thoughts. In this module you will explore a range of helpful strategies to understand and reprogram your thought processes

MODULE 7

Resilience and Mindfulness

  • Learn about resilience and mindfulness.

  • Gain clarity about ways to build more resilience into your life.

  • Implement mindfulness routines into your day.

It is normal to feel that life has been unkind to us. In this module you will learn to train your shock absorbers so that when there are bumps in the road you can go through them gracefully. 

MODULE 8

Acceptance

  • Challenge the conventions about bipolar disorder.

  • Discover ways to normalize your condition.

  • Make a plan to help you accept your condition

It is a struggle to accept that we have to live with bipolar disorder for the rest of our lives. It affects our health, our careers, our relationships, and we miss the person that we used to be before the diagnosis. Acceptance is the final stage of grief, and the first step to build your new life. 

MODULE 9

Relationships and the Power of Community

  • Make a list of potential friendships and relationships to revive.

  • Discover the power of new relationships.

  • Make a plan to reignite your social life.

Bipolar people are often depressed and refrain from having social life, and often have difficulties connecting with others. In this module, you will learn how to reconnect with others and feel more energized by hanging out more. 

MODULE 10

Identify your Passion and Unleash your Creativity

  • Uncover your true passions.

  • Engage in creative activities.

  • Identify where your motivation comes from.

It’s a struggle to get any work done when you’re not motivated. In this module you will learn to master three techniques for finding motivation so you can boost your energy levels and maintain high levels of personal productivity.

MODULE 11

Discover your Purpose

  • Learn about yourself so that you can identify your true purpose.

  • Brainstorm potential options for your future self.

  • Make a plan to work towards your new identity

After the diagnosis it is common to feel lost and initially we want to go back to your old life but with perspective we can opt to build a new life going through a deep transformation, and this new life can be more exciting than the previous one, we can align our mission with our values and purpose and pursue our new direction.

MODULE 12

Achieve Flow

  • Learn ways to achieve more flow in your life. 

  • Avoid distractions when you seek to achieve peak performance. 

  • Create routines to implement flow on a daily basis in your life so that you are no longer limited by lack of energy or motivation.

When we are low on energy it is impossible to be focused and productive. In this module, you will learn to harness your creativity to achieve as much flow as possible in your life so that you experience exponential growth through peak performance.
